Getting Started

 

Depending on the license type, the first steps for users and administrators differ.

Device License

ClosedDevice

Description

License assigned to a specific License Carrier.

Availability

  • ELA license: The local administrator provides the license.

  • EULA license: The license is provided in the delivery note.

Possible License Carriers

  • Computer

  • Keyman

  • VNI

User Actions

Named User Licenses

ClosedNamed User (Device Activated)

Description

Named user licenses can be activated by a specific user.

Availability

  • ELA license: The local administrator provides the license.

Possible License Carriers

  • Computer

  • VM

  • Keyman

  • VNI

Admin Actions

  • Assign the license to the user.

User Actions

  • Wait for admin actions.

  • Activate via GUI/CLI (on the local License Carrier).

  • Deactivate via GUI/CLI (on the local License Carrier).

  • Update via GUI/CLI (on the local License Carrier).

  • Reactivate via GUI/CLI (on the local License Carrier).

ClosedNamed User (Network Activation)

Description

These licenses, activated on a server in customer company, are bound to users. See Prerequisites.

Availability

  • ELA license: The local administrator provides the license.

  • EULA license: The license is provided in the delivery note.

Possible License Carriers

  • Computer

  • VM

Admin Actions

  1. Configure computer as a customer license server (GUI/CLI).

  2. Activate via GUI/CLI (on the sever).

  3. Configure user list via GUI/CLI.

  4. Optional further actions:

    1. Deactivate via GUI/CLI (on the sever).

    1. Update via GUI/CLI (on the sever).

    1. Reactivate via GUI/CLI (on the sever).

User Actions

  1. Wait for admin actions.

  2. Configure server search list (IP or name of the server) (GUI/CLI).

  3. Open software or tool.
