License Update Basics

You can update licenses by clicking [Licensing]|[License Update] in the Ribbon. You can update all licenses on all available license carriers (e.g., computer, keyman, Vector network interface, etc.) at once.

The Vector License Client checks whether the computer on which you are performing the action is connected to the Internet and automatically establishes a connection to the Vector license server accordingly. You can then proceed accordingly:

Online update: If updates are available, the License Update dialog is opened automatically and shows a list of the available updates.
Offline update

Note

If you intended to use the online procedure but the dialog for the offline procedure is opened, please try the following.
Open the dialog in ribbon Settings|Offline/Online Mode and deactivate Offline.
Open the dialog in ribbon Settings|Proxy Settings and check your proxy settings and credentials.
Check your internet connection and contact your corporate IT admin.

After you have started the Vector License Client, the automatic search for license updates starts. If you are working on a computer with internet connection and updates are found for your license carriers/licenses, the License Update dialog will appear automatically and display a list of license updates.
You can continue with the updates directly, but you don't have to. In this case, click Cancel to close the dialog. You may continue with any other action. Please note that the updates may be implicitly applied during other actions. A Red highlight in the ribbon group Licensing|[License Update] will remind you that there are still updates available.

Note

It is recommended to keep your licenses updated at all times.
Once updated, you can not undo the update again.
You can only update all licenses associated with a license carrier. It is not possible to update a single license when there are more than one licenses associated with the license carrier.
You can update one or more license carriers with their associated licenses at the same time.
