Graphical User Interface

Opens the customization menu of the window. Double click this button to close the Vector License Client.

Shows information about the currently used version of the Vector License Client and the copyright.

Activate

Activates licenses. With a click on the symbol you can activate licenses on a license carrier (e.g., computer, keyman, Vector network interface).

• Make sure that a valid activation key supplied by Vector or by your local license admin is available.

Deactivate

Deactivates licenses. If you have selected minimum one license, with a click on the symbol you can deactivate licenses.

Reactivate

Reactivates licenses. If you have selected minimum one license, with a click on the symbol you can reactivate licenses.

• Certain licenses must be reactivated at regular intervals.
• You have 30 days before the date indicated in the column Reactivation due on to reactivate the licenses.

Migrate

Migrates licenses. With a click on the symbol you can migrate licenses by removing license bits from your Vector network interface or keyman and getting a new Vector License in return. A migration license is required to start this process.

Continue Migration

Continues interrupted migration procedures.

License Update

Updates licenses. All licenses on all license carriers are checked and any updates found are displayed.

Continue Offline Process

Uploads the previously created context or receipt file.

• This procedure is only needed during offline procedures.

Troubleshooting

Synchronizes license carriers. With a click on the symbol you open the Troubleshooting dialog where you can synchronize license carriers with the Vector license server.

Support

Opens Vector Support Assistant. It collects necessary information with the Vector License Client (e.g., Vector License Client Log files, Configuration files and Screenshots) that are needed by our Support Team to optimally assist you in resolving your problem. The necessary files are sent compressed and password-protected to Vector Support. In order to check compilation of files, you can also save the report without sending it. Before you transfer the information to Vector Support you can view them in detail.

Export to CSV

Saves an overview of the number and type of activated licenses in form of a *.csv file (e.g., to be opened with Excel).

Clear Messages

Deletes the notifications in the log area.

Opens the Settings dialog with the following options.

Main

Offline/Online Mode

Activate Offline to force the Vector License Client to run in offline mode. Note the following effects:

• The Vector License Client no longer checks for VLC or license updates automatically .
• All actions are performed offline.
• The corresponding offline dialogs and buttons on the user interface are activated.
• The connection status is displayed in the status bar.

Proxy Settings

In this area, activate one of the following options corresponding to your use case:

• Disable Proxy Settings. Use this option to connect to the Internet directly without proxy server.
• Use System Proxy Settings. The system proxy credentials are used automatically. This allows you to set the credentials without entering Server Url and Server Port manually. The settings are taken from the standard browser.
• Use Custom Proxy Settings. Use proxy with custom credentials. Enter the Server Url and the Server Port information provided by your internal corporate IT department.
  Note:Your proxy user name and password are queried before the first action with the Vector license server (i.e., any online procedures) and are only saved at runtime.

Click [Test Proxy Settings] to test the proxy settings. A colored icon displays the result of the test: Green indicates success, red indicates failure. See also Proxy Troubleshooting.

General

In this area, you may enter a default file path for the files created by the Vector License Client during offline procedures.

Remote

Connection

• Local: The local connection (default) shows the licenses that are available locally on your computer. This includes all licenses that are activated on your computer or on the license carriers directly connected to your computer.
• Remote:The Remote connection displays the licenses available on a remote computer (indicated by its IP address). This includes all licenses that are activated on the remote computer or on the license carriers connected to it. You can then perform remote license actions (e.g. deactivate or update) on these remote licenses. The locally available licenses on your computer are hidden in this mode.

Click [Apply] to set the connection type.

Activate Enable License Server to configure the computer as a customer license server.

Active Directory

Deactivate Disable Access to Active Directory to use Active Directory access when importing usernames.

Indicates the assigned user or device. Named User licenses can be used only by the assigned user.

Indicates the date after which you can neither use the product with this license any longer nor reactivate the license.

If you wish to reactivate the license after this date, please contact the Vector Support or Sales department for more information.

Indicates whether the license is based on an EULA contract (activated check box) or not (deactivated check box).

Indicates the license model of the respective license, e.g., perpetual

Indicates whether the license is reactivatable (activated check box) or not (deactivated check box).

Indicates the license restriction of the respective license, e.g., evaluation

Indicates the license type of the respective license, e.g., device locked or named user.

Indicates the license carrier (e.g., computer, keyman, Vector network interface) on which the license is activated.

Indicates the name of the licensed product.

Specifies how many users or computers can use the license in parallel.

Example: A named-user network license with quantity 10 is activated on a license server and a list of authorized 10 users is stored. These 10 users can use this license in parallel.

For the existing local license types, there is always 1 at this point.

Indicates the Vector material number for the product.

Indicates the maximum version of the product. You may use all the versions of this product up to this version.

Indicates the date after which you can no longer use the product with this license.

However, you may extend or renew the period of validity of the license by clicking [Reactivate] in the ribbon.

Note: This procedure is only available if the Expiration Date has not been reached yet, refer to entry in this table.

Indicates the regular interval between required reactivations.

Characterizes the license activation status. Green indicates a valid license, yellow indicates a license that will expire soon and red indicates an expired license.

Displays the status of the current procedure.

Opens an information page of the Vector Knowledge Base.

Opens an information page of the Vector Knowledge Base.

Displays the current time.
