Reactivation Basics

Reactivation is a feature that requires to reactivate a license once in a certain time period. This simplifies the process of replacing a license in case the license carrier (e.g., computer, keyman, Vector network interface) was lost or is no longer available.

You can reactivate licenses on a license carrier (e.g., computer, keyman, Vector network interface) by clicking ribbon group Licensing|[Reactivate] in the Ribbon.

The Vector License Client checks whether the computer on which you are performing the action is connected to the Internet and automatically establishes a connection to the Vector license server accordingly. You can then proceed accordingly:

  • If you intended to use the online procedure but the dialog for the offline procedure is opened, please try the following.
  • Open the dialog in ribbon Settings|Offline/Online Mode and deactivate Offline.
  • Open the dialog in ribbon Settings|Proxy Settings and check your proxy settings and credentials.
  • Check your internet connection and contact your corporate IT admin.

  • No activation key is required during the reactivation process. However, if you wish to switch to a new license carrier, refer to the help page Exchange License Carrier.
  • To find out if a license is reactivatable, please view the column Is Reactivatable in the overview of the main window (refer to user interface). This option depends on the purchase details of the corresponding Vector tool, please contact the Vector Sales department for more information.

  • You may change between the online or offline method at any time. However, you must complete each procedure by using only one method. You must not change the method during a current deactivation or reactivation process!
