Command Line Interface » Remote Actions

Procedures via Remote Connection

In the parameter overview you can find the parameter Remote. The Remote parameter allows you to perform one or more license actions (e.g. activate) on a remote offline computer or on the license carrier connected to it (e.g. Keyman, Vector network interface) using a local online computer.

Follow all step-by-step instructions 1-2 below.

Procedure

1. Prepare Remote Connection on the Remote Offline Computer

There are two different ways to do this:

  1. Vector Tool Platform (VTP) Device
If you are using a Vector Tool Platform Device (e.g. smart logger), follow these steps:

  1. Go to the directory where the Vector License Client is located (e.g. with Windows File Explorer).

  2. In the Remote folder you can find Vector License Client Remote.vtpapp. Install this package by using Vector Tool Platform in usual way.

  3. Note down the IP address.

  1. Other Offline Computer
If you are not using a Vector Tool Platform Device, follow these steps:

  1. Install the Vector License Client.
  2. Go to the directory where the Vector License Client is located (e.g. with Windows File Explorer).
  3. Start Remote.exe with double click.
    A console window is opened.
The IP address is shown in the window.
  4. Note down the IP address.

Procedure

2. Perform license actions on the Online Computer

  1. Perform the required action (e.g. activate) in a usual way and use Remote parameter and the corresponding IP address (i.e. -remote <IP address>) to perform the action on the Offline Computer. The actions are described here:

Note

Notice!

On an offline computer with remote connection, only actions from a single local online computer may be started simultaneously.
