[previous] 0482 [next] [C] Expressions may only be cast to 'void' or scalar types.
Constraint violations REFERENCE - ISO:C90-6.3.4 Cast Operators - Constraints

This is a constraint error

It is not possible to cast to a struct type, a union type, a function type or an array type. A cast operation can only perform a conversion to a scalar type or type void. For example:

/*PRQA S 2213,3112,3199,3203,3227,3408,3617 ++*/

typedef struct ST { int a; } T;
typedef void (FUNC)(void);

int bar(void);

void foo(int n)
{
    T  t;

    t = (T)n;         /* Message 0482 - attempting to cast to struct type   */
    (FUNC)n;          /* Message 0482 - attempting to cast to function type */
    (void)bar();      /* OK                                                 */
}
