Installation

Processor Expert is installed as part of the CodeWarrior. Please follow the instruction while installing CodeWarrior. Enable or disable the installation of Processor Expert can be done by selecting Custom installation of the CodeWarrior and selecting / deselecting appropriate components of Processor Expert.

Processor Expert main directory will be installed within CodeWarrior to "{CodeWarrior}\ProcessorExpert" directory.

Processor Expert plug-in is started in CodeWarrior IDE when a Processor Expert project is opened or a new Processor expert project is created.

About license.dat

To run Processor Expert in FULL version is necessary to obtain License.dat which is located in Code-Warrior root directory. Without the valid license Processor Expert runs in DEMO mode and the code is generated only partially. Generated code in DEMO mode is assumed to be used for presentation purposes only.

The FULL version of Processor Expert supports several component packages (see chapter CONTENT). Each package needs a separate license. Processor Expert licenses follows CodeWarrior licenses - detailed information about licenses can be found at: http://www.freescale.com/codewarrior
in 'CodeWarrior Suites' section

B. PRODUCT CONTENT

Detailed information about the components and templates you can find in the Documentation. Please refer to command "main menu | Help | Processor Expert | Embedded Components Index" in the CodeWarrior IDE.

The FULL version of Processor Expert supports the following components:

E. KNOWN PROBLEMS AND LIMITATIONS

  • Freescale has decided to rename "Embedded beans" to "Embedded components" to avoid any confusion with Java Beans. Removing all references in the software, help files and documentation is a work in progress. If you find references to "bean" or "embedded bean", please understand that these terms are equivalent to "component" and "embedded component" respectively.

  • ColdFire V1 family: Device Initialization supports C language only

  • The following peripherals are not supported by Device Init: BEMF for EY16,EY16A, UHF for RF2

  • Some window relating functions may not work properly

  • Generated code is not tested for MC68HC908RF2 Cpu. FreescaleUHFTransmitter component is not tested (MC68HC908RF2 Cpu)

  • The USB component and the USBHUB component is not fully tested for the MC68HC908LD64 derivatives (when the full speed device is connected to the downstream port of the HUB and enabled, the USB HUB module of the microcontroller disables this downstream port).

  • The USB component does not work properly on the MC68HC908BD48 MMDS emulation board. The USB reset is randomly detected by the CPU and therefore the USB component is not fully tested.

  • The FreescaleAnalogModule OnAmpReady event is not invoked each time when the output of two-stage amplifier is ready.

  • When the internal clock source is selected for TBM module on the MC68HC908SR12 derivative, then the interrupt period of the TBM correspond to external clock source.

  • The TPM module of HCS08 derivatives in center-aligned PWM mode - TPMMOD register must be at least TPMCxV + 2 otherwise the TPM module does not work.

  • EventCntr8, EventCntr16 and EventCntr32 components does not work well if Reset method is called when the Counter register equals to 0xFFFF (HCS08 family). False interrupt is then invoked.

  • IIC peripheral using 10-bit addressing feature configured in the slave mode cannot transmit data values that matches the mask '11110xxx'. These values are reserved for address.

  • PDF search is not configured for LT(8,4), QT8, SH(16,32), SA(12,4), SF4, MCF51EM256(128), LH(36,64), SC4, KB(12,8,4,2), AG(128,96), MM/JE(64,128), MCF51MM/JE(256,128) derivatives because the valid documentation is not available yet.

  • PPI peripheral is not supported for LT8, LT4

  • Init_RNGA_COLDFIREV1 component is not tested on a silicon.

  • Following components use real numbers (float type) in some of their methods, therefore corresponding library for real numbers may be necessary: FreeCntr8, FreeCntr16, FreeCntr32, PPG, PWM, TimerInt, TimerOut

F. FAQ

Q: Cannot execute compressed HTML help format.

A: Processor Expert uses for main part of documentation advantages of Microsoft compressed help files (*.CHM). For view compressed help it is required Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 with update or Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01. If you have problems to execute help successfully, please look first to Microsoft HTML Help FAQ.
If you cannot solve your problem please ask us about documentation in HTML form. This uncompressed HTML documentation is included on CD-ROM of Processor Expert.
