This message is issued whenever a constant expression of essentially signed type undergoes an assigning conversion to a floating type. For example:
/*PRQA S 1-9999 ++*/
/*PRQA S 4437,1298 --*/
void foo (float b);
float f4437 (void)
{
float fta = (1+1); /* 4437 */
foo (3 * 10); /* 4437 */
foo (0); /* 1298 */
fta = (-1); /* 4437 */
return (+0); /* 4437 */
}
Note that message 1298 will be generated for a constant instead.
MISRA C:2012 Rules applicable to message 4437:
| Rule-10.3 (Required) | The value of an expression shall not be assigned to an object with a narrower essential type or of a different essential type category. |
