ISO C99 Language features REFERENCE - ISO:C99-6.7.4 Function specifiers

'inline' functions are a feature of ISO:C99. This syntax is not supported in ISO:C90.

For example:

static inline int foo(int a, int b)     /* Message 1055 */
{
    return (a * 10) + b;
}

MISRA C:2012 Rules applicable to message 1055:

Dir-1.1  (Required) Any implementation-defined behaviour on which the output of the program depends shall be documented and understood
