Sequence Point

A sequence point occurs at the end of any C statement. A sequence point signifies a point in the execution of a program when the state of the program is known, i.e. when a set of side effects is guaranteed to be complete. In the execution of one statement a number of side effects may occur and the order in which these are performed may not be specified. Sequence points occur:

• At the end of a statement
• After evaluation of the left operand of a || or && operator
• After evaluation of the first operand of the conditional operator (? :)
• After evaluation of the left hand operand of a comma operator
• In a call to a function, after all arguments have been evaluated
