This is a constraint error

In an addition operation involving a pointer, the other operand must be of integral type. For example:

extern int * pi;
extern int * pj;

void foo(float dec)
{
    pi = pj + 2;                  /* OK */
    pi = pi + dec;                /* Message 0485 */
    pi = pi + pj;                 /* Message 0485 */
