You are using an identifier which has not been declared. It is possible to reference functions which have not previously been declared, but objects must always have an explicit declaration. Check for missing headers, local or global declarations. For example:

extern int foo(void)
{
i = 0; /* Message 0434 */
func(0); /* Message 1302 and 3335 */
return j; /* Message 0434 */
}
