Description
The ST MCUFinder
application allows to explore and connect the complete portfolio of
STM32 ARM® Cortex®-Mx, STM8 microcontrollers and hardware development
kits (boards) directly from the developer’s desktop environment. ST
MCUFinder features easy-to-use selection tools, self-maintaining
documentation, and connections to MCU communities.

Installing and running ST MCUFinder
Supported operating systems and architectures
- Windows® 7: 32-bit (x86), 64-bit (x64)
- Windows® 8: 32-bit (x86), 64-bit (x64)
- Windows® 10: 32-bit (x86), 64-bit (x64)
- Linux®: 32-bit (x86)
and 64-bit (x64) (tested on RedHat, Ubuntu and Fedora). Since
STM32CubeMX is a 32-bit application, some versions of Linux 64-bit
distributions require to install 32-bit compliant packages such as
ia32-libs.
- MacOS: 64-bit (x64) (tested on OS X Yosemite)
Software requirements
- On Windows and Linux: Java Run Time Environment (minimum version 1.7.0_45)
- On MacOS: Java Development Kit (minimum version 1.7.0_45)
Installing STMCUFinder
To install ST MCUFinder, follow the steps below:
- Extract (unzip) the whole content of the the latest STMCUFinder installation package into the same directory
- On Windows
- Make sure you have administrators rights
- Double click on the SetupSTMCUFinder-1.0.0.exe file
- Make sure you have
access rights to the target installation directory, you can run the
installation as root (or sudo) to install STMCUFinder on shared
directories
- Double click (or launch from the console window) on the SetupSTMCUFinder-1.0.0.linux file
- Make sure you have
access rights to the target installation directory, you can run the
installation as root (or sudo) to install STMCUFinder on shared
directories
- Double click (or launch from the console window) on the SetuSTMCUFinder-1.0.0 application
- After the installation you can safely remove the content of the zip from your disk.
Running STMCUFinder
- Select STMCUFinder from All Programs > ST Microelectronics > STMCUFinder.
- Or double-click ST MCUFinder icon on your desktop.
- launch the STMCUFinder executable from the STMCUFinder installation directory
- on MacOS
- launch the STMCUFinder application from the launchpad
Uninstalling STMCUFinder
To uninstall STMCUFinder, follow the steps below:
- Open the Windows Control panel.
- Select Programs and Features to display the list of programs installed on your computer.
- Right click on STMCUFinder and select the uninstall function.
- use a file explorer,
go in the Uninstaller directory of the STMCUFinder installation and
double click on the startuninstall desktop shortcut
- or launch manually the uninstallation with java -jar <install path>/Uninstaller/uninstaller.jar
- use a file explorer, go in the Uninstaller directory of the STMCUFinder installation and double click on the uninstaller.jar
- or directly move the STMCUFinder application in the recycle bin
