The Vector Tool Platform (VTP) is a software environment that is installed on various devices (e.g. VN8800, VN8900, VT6000, CANoe RT Rack) that run applications with increased real-time requirements, especially in standalone operation.

VTP offers various services that can be used in Vector applications (e.g. CANoe/CANalyzer). On the device side, VTP consists of the components Extended Real Time (ERT) and the VTP Control Server, which are closely linked to the operating system image and the Vector drivers. ERT is not supported on all devices.

VTP also includes the Platform Manager, which can be installed as a standalone application on a user computer and allows access to device functions via IP/USB. Application-specific settings can also be made there via corresponding plug-ins (e.g. for CANoe/CANalyzer).

Extended Real Time

With Extended Real Time as a part of the Vector Tool Platform the latency and determinism of CANoe/CANalyzer and CANape are improved. To achieve this, the device is logically divided into two areas. A new area provides Extended Real Time in which predefined functions can be executed under real-time conditions.

Extended Real Time is supported by the Vector Hardware VN8912A, VN8911, VN8914 and VT6051A.

VTP Control Server

The VTP Control Server allows the installation of drivers and applications on the VTP devices and allows the configuration of the device settings.
